Orchards in Farmville
Orchards are a wonderful commodity in Farmville. There are so many benefits to orchards and we will discuss them all on this page.
Orchards can store up to 20 trees
Farmville Orchards take up 20 total squares (5×4), the same amount that 20 trees would consume. So, you are not wasting any space by having an orchard on your farm, as long as it is filled with 20 trees.
Orchards produce Mystery Seedlings
Everytime you harvest your orchard, you have the chance of finding either a mystery seedling or 2 watering cans, in addition to collecting coins from the trees being harvested. Once fully grown with watering cans, a mystery seedling will become a Level 2 tree. Level 2 trees can only be grown from a mystery seedlng or purchased for Farm Cash in the market. When they are grown from mystery seedlings, they are essentially FREE. These Level 2 trees are also rarer than their Level 1 ‘parents’.
You can share these mystery seedlings with friends
Mystery seedlings posted to the newsfeed can be claimed by up to 10 of your friends, as opposed to only 1 being able to claim the fully grown tree. When your friends claim these seedlings, the fully grown tree will be a complete mystery. So even if you have an orchard full of 20 ‘Cherry’ trees, chances are your friends won’t receive a ‘Rainier Cherry’ tree. They might get something totally unrelated, like a ‘Giant Heart Candy’ tree. But, there is a chance they might get that ‘Rainier Cherry’.
Orchards will make any tree ‘ready for harvest’ in 2 days
That’s right, even if your tree normally takes 5 days to become ‘ready’, when you place it in the orchard it only takes 2 days! This goes for all trees…2 days to 5 days.
You can have more than one Orchard
Isn’t that great? Better yet… they only cost 1,000 coins each! You do have to build them, though. But if you have built up a stock of special delivery gifts, this should not be a problem. Special delivery gifts can be redeemed for building materials. The more building materials or special delivery gifts you have, the faster you can build your orchards! You can usually get a lot of building materials off the newsfeed to speed things up. Each orchard requires 10 nails, 10 bricks, and 10 boards to be completed.
*Note: You must complete building one orchard before you can purchase another orchard.
Orchards let you harvest your trees in less time
When most of your trees are in orchards, all it takes is one click to harvest each orchard. Let’s say you have 15 orchards full of 20 trees each. You can harvest all 300 trees with just 15 clicks of your mouse! This saves a lot of time. You cannot, however, use an arborist to harvest your orchards.
Empty Orchards sell for lots of coins
You don’t want your orchard anymore? An empty orchard will sell for 6,000 coins. Before selling an orchard, remember to remove your trees if you want to keep them. If you want to sell those, too, you can leave them in your orchard and sell them all at once. You’ll receive more than 6,000 coins when you sell it.
Orchards can also be instantly grown
If you use a bi-plane on your farm, your orchards, as well as your crops, will immediately be ready for harvest!
You will always find something in the Orchard
Maybe you won’t get a mystery seedling everytime. You might get two watering cans. But what’s wrong with that? You need 8 watering cans to grow your seedlings and if you can’t always get them from your neighbors, this is a great feature. In the past, if you didn’t get a seedling from an orchard, all you received were the coins from the trees. This all changed in February of 2011. Now everyone gets their coins AND a prize!
Orchards can let you master trees much quicker
The Orchard trick lets you master trees very quickly.
