How to get more coins in Farmville

Farm Coins are the most common currency in Farmville. They are the easiest to come by and you can get them by doing most things on your farm. There are a number of ways to earn Farm Coins.

1. Visiting Neighbors’ farms

By visiting your neighbors’ farms, you can collect 20 coins from each of them once a day. So, if you visit 10 neighbors per day, you will get 200 coins. Visiting 100 neighbors per day will get you 2000 coins. This does not account for coins that you can earn by helping them in other ways on their farms.

2. Harvesting Crops

Harvesting crops will yield you your largest amount of coins in the game. Remember, it’s called ‘Farm’ville – crops are huge part of the ‘farm’. Everybody is at different levels, so the highest-coin-yielding crop may not be available to a lower level player. If you are looking for coins, choose the crops that are the highest yielders for YOUR level. Zynga also updates items frequently in Farmville so what might be the most profitable today may be outranked tomorrow by a more lucrative crop.

Calculating profitablity is simple. Here is an example of how it is done:

White Grapes Example (buy for 245 coins, sell for 360 coins)

1. Subtract the original cost of the crop (245 coins) from the amount of coins one plot harvests for (360 coins).
Ex. 360 – 245 = 115 coins.

2. Subtract 15 (the cost of plowing each plot) from this new number.
Ex. 115 – 15 = 100 coins.

3. You have just calculated the amount of coins you earn with each plot planted. Now, take the number of available crop plots you have on your farm (let’s say 500) and multiply it by the harvest income of each plot (100).
Ex. 500 x 100 = 50,000 coins.

Since white grapes are 12 hour crops, you will receive 50,000 coins every 12 hours. If you can work 2 harvests into a day, you can get 100,000 coins from each day of planting white grapes.

What if the crop takes longer than a day to harvest and you want to find out how much it produces each day so you can compare it to others? Let’s say it is a 2-day crop. Take the amount you earn by harvesting a full field (ex. 200,000) and divide it by the number of days it takes to grow (2).
Ex. 200,000 / 2 = 100,000 coins per day.

*Note: Crops with shorter harvest times will let you harvest more crops per day than multiple day crops. This may then, depending on the crops, gain more coins. Also, harvesting crops as soon as they are done will let you get in more per day.

3. Harvesting Animals

Harvesting animals will bring you a lot of coins, too. You can save a lot of time by harvesting them with ‘farmhands’. Foals and calves will produce 80 coins per day. Horses and cows will vary on what they produce, from 20 to 150 coins per day depending on the breed. You can read more about animals here. Here are some high coin-generating animals:

Strawberry Pigs

Strawberry Pigs are one of your best animal friends. They are free and come from brown and black truffles (strawberry pigs cannot be found in white and gold truffles). There are a number of things you can do
with a strawberry pig.

One option is selling the pig for 15,000 coins. This is a lot of coins to earn from an animal.

Second, you can keep the pig in your pigpen and send him to find truffles on your neighbors’ farms. After the truffles are accepted and returned by your neighbors, you may be rewarded with more strawberry pigs that you can sell for 15,000 coins. However, if you choose to go this route, each strawberry pig will only earn 30 coins per day inside the pig pen and it will take 500 days for the pig to generate the same 15,000 coins you could have originally sold him for (however, you can sell the pig at any time). Also, when you find truffles on your friends’ farms, they must ‘accept and send one back’ for you to receive the truffle. There is no guarantee that they will be returned.

Third, you can leave the pig on your farm for all your neighbors to see. This option gives you the least coins. You will only earn 30 coins every two days.

How do you get strawberry pigs without a pigpen?

Simple! When your friends’ pigs find brown and black truffles on your farm, just click on the post and press ‘accept and send one back’ to receive and return a truffle. Go to your giftbox and open the truffle. You might be lucky enough to win a strawberry pig! Or, you can search the newsfeed for friends sharing brown and black truffles and claim them.

Belted Cows
You must be Level 75

The ‘Belted Cow’ is a unique animal in farmville. He is your other best animal friend. But you must be level 75 to buy him in the market. This cow costs $1 million coins and produces 3,000 coins per day.

Here is the trick to getting millions of coins from your belted cows:

First, you must have an empty dairy with 30-40 ready cows. Have a few million coins saved and have at least 30-40 ready cows (of any type) outside your dairy. Buy a couple of belted cows. Place them on the field outside your dairy barn. Select your ‘move’ tool and move a ready non-belted cow into the dairy. This will make the dairy ready to harvest. Now, select the belted cows and move them into the diary. Collect your coins.

Next, remove all of the cows from the dairy and set them on the field outside the dairy. Select another ready cow and move it into the dairy, making it ready again. Select your belted cows and move them into the dairy. Collect your coins, and repeat. Let’s say you have 40 ready cows that you are using with you cow trick. Also, let’s say we have 3 belted cows, a good estimate for a belted cow user starting out. Everytime your 3 belted cows get harvested in the dairy, you earn 9,000 coins. If you perform this trick with all 40 ready cows, you will earn 360,000 coins in one sitting. If you have 40 belted cows, you can earn over 4 million coins per day.

4. Harvesting trees and orchards

16 trees can be placed in one single crop plot, making trees very profitable. The most profitable coin-producing tree is the ‘Peach Palm Tree’ with a return of 237 coins per day! Look at it this way: that means that in one crop-sized plot, your 16 Peach Palm Trees will produce you 3792 coins per day! But since the Peach Palm is a two day tree, every 2 days you will earn 7584 coins from that one crop-sized plot! Another highly profitable tree is the ‘Shinko Pear Tree’.

You can also harvest your orchards for a large sum of coins all at once. All trees that are placed in the orchards will be ready to be harvested in 2 days, which is a great thing if the trees you place in the orchards are 3, 4, or 5 day trees. However, as with all things, there are both pros and cons to buying trees.

One down-side is that it may take weeks upon weeks to recover the costs of buying a tree, depending upon the tree that you buy. Another con is that you may not be able to see plots depending upon where you place your tree. These hidden plots will not earn you any coins if you can’t see them to plant crops on them.

On the up-side, trees are good for hiding things that you want on your farm but don’t want others to see. Also, the bi-plane can also be used to instantly grow your trees. Arborists can be used to harvest all your trees at once, saving you time. Trees also do not wither. And the best part: trees that you receive as gifts in your giftbox or in mystery items will instantly start earning you profits once you place them on your farm. There is no cost-recovery for these free trees!

*Note: Some trees do not earn any coins and are for decoration purposes only (ex. Magnolia, Dogwood, Evergreen, Jacaranda, etc).

5. Harvesting buildings-with-purpose

Harvesting these buildings varies by the amount of animals you place in them and what type of animals they are.

For example, you just bought a ‘Horse Stable’. Horses outside of the stable can be harvested generally every 3 days. But, inside the stable, they are now harvestable every day, 1/3 of the normal time. Stables can also be harvested multiple times per day if you place a horse inside that is between 39% and 99% ready. The stable will then become automatically ready. 40 horses is the maximum amount you can have in the stable. So, how much can we earn per day with just the horse stable (multiple daily harvestings not equated)? Let’s do the math…

Suppose we have 40 basic brown ‘Horses’ (sendable as free gifts), harvestable for 84 coins every 3 days. We place them all in the horse stable and they now are harvestable everyday for 84 coins each. That is a total of 3360 coins per day!

6. Collecting and selling items from the newsfeed

You can collect things like animals and other rewards on your newsfeed and sell them for farm coins. For example, you can collect a foal from the newsfeed and sell it for 120 coins! You can also collect coin bonuses when your neighbors post their mastery stars on the newsfeed.

7. Participate in themed countdown games in Farmville

Everyday when there is a chance to collect another decoration by posting for a themed countdown game (ex. Spring Countdown, Holiday Countdown, Valentine’s Day Countdown, etc), post the item to your profile/newsfeed for your friends to help you. Some of these items can be sold for a large amount of coins. For example, the ‘Stone Archway’ in the Spring Countdown can be sold for 360 coins. If you get the maximum 10 of these from your friends, that is 3600 coins!

8. Sell your themed collection items for lots of coins

Every holiday or special occasion that comes up brings a new collection-based game in Farmville. We’re talking about the thanksgiving feast, holiday gifts, Valentines, and now St Patty’s gold. When you save up enough items, you can redeem them for something that gives you back a lot of coins. For example, the fancy carriage could be redeemed for only 10 Valentines and sold for 1,500 coins! That is a great ratio. The ‘Green Lighthouse’ from the St Patty’s Day pot of gold costs 200 gold pieces and can be redeemed for 7,500 coins!

9. Selling your items and gifts in your giftbox and asking for free gifts

You can ask for free gifts from your friends. If you are looking for something that can be sold for a large amount of coins, consider these. The ‘Horse’ is the animal with the highest selling-value* available as a free gift that almost any level player can send. You can receive them as gifts and then sell them for 105 coins each. Some other animals that sell for a lot of coins are the ‘Brown Goose’ for 100 coins and the ‘Goat’ for 90 coins.

*(excluding dutch rabbit – level 90)

The highest selling free gift animal – Dutch Rabbit

Ask your higher level friends (level 90 and above) for a gift that you know you can sell for a lot of coins – The Dutch Rabbit. With a selling price of 350 coins, it is the highest selling animal in the Free Gifts. But, many players cannot gift this animal because they have not reached level 90 yet. However, you can still ask your level 90-and-above neighbors to send you the Dutch Rabbit. You can also become neighbors with more level 90+ players as your friends to send you dutch rabbits.

The highest selling free gift tree – Jacaranda Tree

Just like the dutch rabbit, you can ask your level 100+ friends to send you ‘Jacaranda Trees’ as free gifts. They sell for 250 coins each. This is one good reason they are good gifts to ask for. Another reason is because they cannot be harvested or mastered since they are decorations so you don’t have to worry about mastering them and selling them later.

Other free trees sell for much less – 75 coins or less.

Requesting an item – Making a ‘Wish’

If you go to your ‘Giftbox’ you can send out a ‘wish’ to the newsfeed once a day letting your friends know what you need. This can be anything in the Free Gifts that does not say ‘locked’ when you send out gifts to your friends. For example, if you are level 40, you can not send dutch rabbits because you are not level 90. So you cannot ask for level 90 items either. You can only ask for what you can currently send. As you move up in levels, you can ask for higher level items.

8. Buy farm coins with real currency

In Farmville, you have the option of buying farm coins with real currency. You can buy a giftcard in a store, online, or by receiving it as a gift from a friend. These are the current ratios in US Dollars:

$5.00 = 7,500 coins
$10.00 = 15,800 coins
$20.00 = 33,300 coins
$40.00 = 70,600 coins

Other currencies can be found on farmville.com or on your farm in Facebook.

9. Gain coins as rewards from Ribbons

By earning ribbons, you can receive coin rewards as well as XP rewards. You earn different amounts of coins for each ribbon. You will receive more coins for a higher ribbon.

Yellow Ribbon = 1,000 coins
White Ribbon = 2,500 coins
Red Ribbon = 5,000 coins
Blue Ribbon = 10,000 coins (+ 1 Farm Cash)

10. Get rewards from Co-op farming

Depending on the co-op you choose, you will be able to receive anywhere from 400 to 1,000+ coins for getting the gold medal. Experiment with different co-ops depending upon which crops or crafts you want to do and ask your friends to join in on the co-op. When you get the gold medal, you all receive the reward.

11. Craft goods in you Bakery, Winery, or Spa

When you craft goods in your crafting building, you receive one good per recipe and two are up for sale for your neighbors to buy. Based on the level of your recipes, how many you offer, and how many neighbors buy them, you can easily generate tens of thousands of coins per day with one of these buildings.
