Nursery Barn
Getting your nursery and building it
The Nursery Barn is a storage building for your calves and foals. It can be harvested once a day and provides a place for your Calves to grow into adult horses and cows. This building must be constructed from building materials. You need 50 parts to construct the nursery barn: 10 bricks, 10 nails, 10 wooden boards, 10 baby bottles, and 10 blankets. Blankets are exclusive to the nursery barn and the only other things that require baby bottles are baby animals.
You will receive a Gray Foal upon completing your nursery barn. A completed nursery barn can hold up to 20 foals and calves. It can be expanded twice, each time adding room for 10 baby animals. 40 animals is the total that a nursery can store. Each expansion requires an additional 10 bricks, 10 nails, 10 wooden boards, 10 blankets, and 10 bottles. A nursery barn that has been fully upgraded to hold the maximum amount of animals will require 150 building parts overall.
Special Delivery Gifts can be redeemed for building materials, including bottles and blankets. As long as you do not have any other item on your farm requiring building materials, special delivery gifts should give you items related to what is being built on your farm.
You can also ask your friends for building materials as free gifts. All 5 materials are currently available as free gifts. If you want, you can also buy the materials from the market. Each part costs 1 Farm Cash. If you wanted to build a nusery barn completely from parts you purchase in the market, it will cost you 50 Farm Cash for the basic nursery, 100 Farm Cash total for the first expansion, and 150 total for the second expansion.
What is the purpose of a nursery barn?
The purpose is to let your foals and calves grow into adult horses and cows, assuming you want them to. There are only a select few horses and cows that your babies can grow into, and these are very common adult animals.
What will my foal or calf grow into?
First, any calf or foal can be placed in the nursery barn, except a belted calf claimed from the newsfeed. You can place all of your exotic calves and foals here, but BE CAREFUL if you do. Even the most exotic of baby animals will grow up to be a common adult animal. There are only 4 types of horses and 2 types of cows that babies can become.
Here is a breakdown of the transformations:
Horses
Cream Draft Horse comes from any Draft or Clydesdale Foal, including Percheron Foal.
Mini Cream Horse comes from any Miniature or Mini Foal
Light Blue Pony comes from any Pony Foal
Black Horse comes from any other ‘exotic’ breed, including the common Brown and Gray Foals
Cows
Chocolate Cow comes from Fan Calf, Pink Patch Calf, Green Calf, Pink Calf, Neopolitan Calf, Kelly Green Calf, and some others.
Holstein Cow comes from Calf, Tuscan Calf, Chocolate Calf, Brown Calf, Holstein Calf, Groovy Calf, Simmental Calf, Candy Cane Calf, Robot Calf, Red Calf, Longhorn Calf, Purple Calf, Blue Calf, Autumn Calf, Gelbvieh Calf, Disco Calf, Holiday Calf, Western Longhorn Calf, Valentine Calf, Purple Calf, Hereford Calf, Welsh Calf, and some others.
Choosing not to let your foals and calves grow up
What if you don’t want your exotic calves to grow up to be common animals? No problem, just don’t put them in your nursery barn. They will stay young forever and continue to produce coins on your farm. Typically, calves and foals produce 80 coins everyday.
