Horses and the Horse Stable

One of the great parts of Farmville is the ability to breed baby animals. It is exciting when you click on your Horse Stable and find a new little animal. They type of animal you find can be a great surprise and, better yet, you can share those newborns with your friends.

Introduction to the Horse Stable

The horse stable is a building in Farmville that houses your horses. It is harvestable once a day. Any horses that you have outside your stable can be harvested everyday in the stable instead of every 3 days outside the stable. This makes horses more lucrative.

Unlike the Dairy and Chicken Coop, a Horse Stable must be built. You must collect 10 bricks, 10 nails, 10 wooden boards, 10 harnesses, and 10 horseshoes to complete construction. One brick is already included when you buy the horse stable frame but you will have to obtain the other 49 materials. These materials can be purchased in the market for 1 Farm Cash each. They can be sent to you as free gifts from your friends. You can ‘Make a Wish’ for each item in the giftbox window. Or, you can redeem special delivery gifts for building materials. Every item required can be found in a special delivery gift. Another less known way to get materials quickly is to help a Wandering Stallion on the newsfeed. You must have a complete stable to get the breeding benefits of a wandering stallion, but you can still get another benefit from claiming him. You will receive one of each building material necessary to construct a stable when you click on the stallion – 1 brick, 1 nail, 1 wooden board, 1 harness, and 1 horseshoe.

You’ve built your stable. Now what?

You will be able to store up to 20 horses in your newly built stable. You can expand your stable up to 4 times adding a total of 5 horses each time. Each expansion requires 10 of each building material, 50 in total. A fully upgraded stable can hold up to 40 horses and will consume 250 building materials. You will need to get 249, since the first brick comes with the stable.

All different types of horses and ponies can be placed into the stable. Any horse in the stable will become ready in one day instead of three days outside the stable. There are many different horses available in Farmville. Some cost Farm Cash, some cost coins, and some are free.

*Note: Unicorns and Pegasus CANNOT be placed in the horse stable, as they are not considered horses. Donkeys, Mules, and Zebras also CANNOT be placed in the stable. These animals cannot produce foals. The Pseudocorn CAN be placed in a stable and it can produce foals. It is considered a horse.

How to get different types of horses in Farmville

Get horses as free gifts

You can get a brown horse as a free gift. If you want this type of horse, just ask your friends or ‘Make a Wish’.

Adopt a lost horse off the newsfeed

Sometimes horses show up on the newsfeed looking for homes. You can give them that home. Some of these lost horses include Black Pony, Gray Horse, and Wandering Stallion. The Wild Mustang was a lost animal but now is retired.

You can buy a horse from the market

Many varieties are available from the market. The basic brown horse is no longer available for purchase from the market, but exotic breeds are. Horses and Ponies in the market range from 16 Farm Cash to 30+ Farm Cash. However, the black Clydesdale Stallion costs 40 Farm Cash in the market. Different breeds of horses will be available in the market at different times because of different holiday, events, and so on. If you truly desire to buy a particular type of horse, you can contact Zynga and they will possibly sell it to you.

You can get some horses from Mystery Items, such as mystery games, crates, and boxes.

For example, Falabella Horse, Black Stallion, and Appaloosa were available from a mystery game. Brown Pony, Purple Hair Pony, and White Stallion were available from mystery boxes.

You can get horses from promotions

The Red Pinto Horse could be redeemed for 1,000 CitiRewards ThankYou Points. The Red Horse was a prize during the Zynga Lotto.

You’ll get surprised during holidays

The Snow Stallion was made available over Christmas 2010 by collecting gifts under your tree. If you collected 500 gifts or more, you could have redeemed them for a Snow Stallion, which was essentially free. During the same event a friend could have shared a Snow Stallion with you or you could have been lucky enough to find it in a gift underneath your tree.

Grow foals in the Nursery Barn

You can place foals in the nursery barn. They will grow up into adult horses. Currently, there are only 4 types of horses a foal can become: Black Horse, Mini Cream Horse, Cream Draft Horse, and Light Blue Pony.

Stallions

Stallions are essential to produce foals. A horse cannot reproduce without a Stallion and without a stallion you will only receive consumables and coins when you harvest your stable. You can use a Wandering Stallion for breeding foals, but this stallion comes and goes. He only stays one night and he may or may not produce a foal. If you have a permanent Stallion, you’ll be able to produce foals everytime you harvest if you perform the Horse Stable Trick.

There are 8 types of Stallion:

• Black Stallion
• Black Mini Stallion
• White Stallion
• Pink Stallion

Each Stallion will produce a different foal and each can or could have been obtained from a different place.

How to Breed Horses in Farmville

There are a few things you’ll need to have to get on your way to becoming one of the great Farmville horse breeders. This is what you need to start:

1. A fully built horse stable
2. A stallion
3. At least one Special Horse (one you want to breed)
4. OPTIONAL – Seed Horses (to turn out many foals at once)

If you don’t have a stallion, you can use a ‘Wandering Stallion’ in its place. Before we start, let’s just discuss the stallions a little.

—————————————————————————————————————–

About the Stallions

To breed horses, you must have a stallion. Stallions that can produce foals come in the following forms:

• White Stallion (Feb 2010 Valentine Mystery Box, May 2010 Best of Box/Chest, Aug 2010 Mystery Game 11)

• Pink Stallion (Feb 2011 Valentine Mystery Game 36)

• Snow Stallion (Dec 2010 500 holiday gifts, 1 to share with a friend, rarely from winter whimsy)

• Black Mini Stallion (Dec 2010 Winter Holiday Mystery Game 27)

• Miniature Stallion (Aug 2010 Mystery Game 4, Oct 2010 Mystery Game 18)

• Wandering Stallion (On newsfeed)

*Notes:
o The White, Pink, Black Mini, and Miniature Stallion must have been found in a mystery game/box/chest.

o The Snow stallion was available over the 2010 holiday season. If you saved 500 or more holiday gifts, you could have redeemed them for the Stallion, which you were also able to share with one friend. It was also possible to find a Snow Stallion in a ‘Winter Whimsy’ from the same holiday event.

o The Wandering Stallion can be found on your friends’ and neighbors’ profiles and your newsfeed. It does not go into your giftbox. It goes straight into your stable and only lasts 1 day. If you do not have a barn fully completed, clicking on the Wandering Stallion in the newsfeed or profile will give you one set of components needed to build the stable (1 of each: brick, board, nail, horseshoe, harness)

If you do not have a stallion, our best advice would be to search your newsfeed and friends’ walls for a Wandering Stallion post. If you still have a Christmas Tree, you can continue to have your friends send you free holiday gifts until you reach 500. Once you reach 500, you can redeem your gifts for a Snow Stallion.

The Breeding Process

OK, back to the breeding. Breeding is simple. But there are two ways to go about it: The simple way, and the less simple way.

The simple way to breed horses is very easy. Fill your stable up with as many horses as you like and make sure you have a stallion in it. Harvest your stable once a day. You will either receive a foal, arborists, farmhands, 100 XP, or nothing (but coins).

The less simple way is more involved and similar to what you can do with your other Buildings with Purpose. The main thing we are attempting to do this way is produce many foals in one sitting. Typically, only one foal (or consumable) can be produced and you must wait another day to do it again. By doing these few steps, you’ll be able to turn out foal after foal. The general idea of what we are attempting to do is this: Take an empty stable at 0% and make it 100% so we can place special horses inside and produce special foals.

Choosing what type of foals to breed

There are many types of horses in Farmville:

Stock Horses
Stallions: White, Black, Pink
Mares: Horse, High Kick Horse, Horse Spectator, Pseudocorn, Skeleton Horse, Gray Horse, Black Horse, Pinto Horse, Appaloosa, Haflinger, Harvest Horse, Autumn Horse, Forest Horse, Saddle Horse, Buckskin, Palouse, Red Horse, E-QUESTR1ON, Camargue, Morgan, Paint Horse, Red Pinto, New Year Horse, Fjord, Black Cherry, Knight Steed, Carnival Horse

Draft Horses
Stallions: Snow, Black Clydesdale
Mares: Clydesdale, Cream Draft, Percheron, Breton, Gypsy, Brown Gypsy, Pink Gypsy

Feral Horses
Stallions: Wandering Stallion
Mares: Wild Mustang, Asian Wild Horse

Miniature Horses
Stallions: Miniature Stallion, Black Mini
Mares: Miniature, Cream Mini, Mini Appaloosa, Nightmare, Pinto Mini, Mini Candycane, Valentine Mini

Ponies
Mares: Brown Pony, Pink Hair, Purple Mane, Light Blue, Silver, Black, Reitpony, Candy Corn Pony, Pinto Pony, Candy Cane Pony, Yakut, Shamrock Pony

Notes:

• A Miniature Mare will produce a Mini with any Stallion

• When a Miniature Stallion is bred to a full sized Mare, the foal will be the same full sized breed as its mother

• You do not need a Miniature Stallion to produce a Miniature Foal

• You need a Miniature Stallion to produce the white counterpart of the Stallion

• A Wandering Stallion will not effect the breed of a foal

• White, Black, and Pink Stallions have a chance of producing a foal the same color as itself

• A farmer cannot keep the foals that are found. Once posted to the newsfeed, up to 4 neighbors can claim it.

• When your neighbors place the foals into their nursery barn, unless they are brown, gray, speckled black, or black, the foal will become a black horse.

• When you put your foals into the nursery barn to grow up, they will not become the same type of horse that they are as a foal (ex. Pinto foal will not become Pinto horse, it will become a Black Horse)

Instructions for Breeding Horses

Step 1: Empty all the horses from your stable and have your seed horses (the common ones like gray, brown, etc) waiting on your farm outside the stable. Your seed horses must be at least 34% before you can start.

Step 2: Select the ‘move’ tool. Pick up and place one seed horse into the stable. The stable will become ready.

Step 3: Choose what type of foal you want to breed (see chart below). Pick up the special horses that you have chosen to make this foal and place them into the stable.

Step 4: Place your stallion in the stable. If you do not have one, search the newsfeed and profiles for one. Found one? Great, let’s move on. Didn’t get one yet? Either continue looking or put it away for later when you can come back and look again. Remember, you can’t go to Step 5 until you have a Stallion.

Step 5: Now, switch to the ‘multi’ tool and click on the stable to harvest it. A message will appear telling you what your reward is. This could be a foal, XP, consumable, or just a money amount. Hopefully, it is a foal. That’s why we are doing this.

Step 6: Completely empty your stable and start again at Step 2. You can continue for as long as you have seed horses or patience.
